Artefact Chat Overview

Artefact Chat focuses on oral history and is informed by the Australian Curriculum: History.

Students explore the past with their ears by listening to oral histories and become artefact detectives using online resources.

Australian Schools Foundation to Year 2 students learn about the heritage of their community. This online resource utilises the ACT Museums and Galleries website and the ACT Historic Places Mugga-Mugga, Calthorpes’ House and Lanyon, as case studies to focus on oral history and artefacts.

Lesson plans are available and Artefact Chat boxes containing touch-and-handle items
can be loaned. Classes can also visit Mugga-Mugga,
Calthorpes' House or Lanyon as part
of their learning.
